And all with one accord began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, I have bought a piece of land, and must needs go out and see it; I pray that I may be excused.
For there was no one among them that was in want; for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and am going out to try them; I pray that I may be excused.
Jesus then lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great crowd was coming to him, saith to Philip, Whence are we to buy bread, that these may eat?
For some thought, because Judas kept the purse, that Jesus said to him, Buy what we need for the feast; or that he should give something to the poor.
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, A quart of wheat for a denary, and three quarts of barley for a denary; and, Hurt not the oil and the wine.
And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buyeth their merchandise any more; merchandise of gold and of silver, and of precious stones and of pearls, and of fine linen and of purple, and of silk and of scarlet; and all citron wood, and all manner of vessels of ivory, and all manner of vessels of most costly wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble; and cinnamon, and amomum, and odors, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep; and merchandise of horses and chariots and slaves; and souls of men.
For the kingdom of heaven is like a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. And having agreed with the laborers for a denary a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, and went abroad into a far country; and there wasted his substance in riotous living.
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all those who sold and bought in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of those who sold the doves; and said to them, It is written, "My house shall be called a house of prayer; but ye make it a den of robbers."

And he found in the temple those who sold oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the moneychangers sitting. And having made a scourge of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and poured out the money of the exchangers, and overthrew the tables; and said to those who sold the doves, Take these things hence; make not my Fathers house a house of merchandise.
But this I say, brethren, the time that remaineth is short; that both they that have wives may be as though they had none; and they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; and they that use this world as not abusing it; for the outward condition of this world is passing away;
Come now, ye that say, Today and tomorrow we will go into such a city, and spend a year there and traffic, and get gain,
And he causeth all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the flee and the bond, to receive a mark on their right hand, or on their forehead; and that no one shall be able to buy or sell, except him that hath the mark, the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
For we know that the Law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, a slave sold to sin.
Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit made you overseers, to feed the church of the Lord, which he purchased with his own blood.
For ye were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.
knowing that not with perishable things, silver or gold, were ye redeemed from your vain manner of life received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot;
But there arose false prophets also among the people, as there will be false teachers among you also, who will stealthily bring in destructive factions, even denying the Lord that bought them; bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

But the wise answered, saying, Perhaps there will not be enough for us and you; go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.
I advise thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayst be rich; and white garments, that thou mayst be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness may not be made manifest; and eyesalve to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayst see.
But Peter said to him, Thy money perish with thee! because thou didst think to obtain the gift of God with money.
